Costume and Props

    Costume
Here are the costumes we propose to use along with images that have inspired each characters look.

Present day protagonist: tracksuit bottoms, trainers, tight vest and a coat (puffer jacket?)

Protagonist in first flashback: baggy jumper and/or tshirt. Hair off the face.

Tom- Male in first flashback: tshirt, necklaces, leather jacket.
    Props
    • House keys: used to get into the house.
    • Coffee cups: used in the cafe flashback
    • Old nokia brick/flip up phone: this will be the phone the protagonist uses in her attempt to call Tom.
    • Kitchen knife: this will glint in the sink and trigger the second flashback.
    • Utility blade/knife: this will be the weapon that’s used in the second flashback.

    Characters

    Female Protagonist:
She appears to be strong and angsty, verging on early adulthood. Her age will be used to make her seem vulnerable at points in the film, however she will appear to be very independent in the opening; it is ambiguous as to whether the house she walks into is her own or her parents. We've used Kristen Stewart’s character from Welcome To The Rileys as inspiration -as Stewart portrays a girl who is self-sufficient but in such a way it makes the audience question her morals and stability, and also - as well as Katie Jarvis’s character in Fish Tank as she seeks comfort in an older man.

She may therefore be susceptible to trouble and crime which makes her a perfect influence. As for Jarvis, her character fits the social realist aspect of the film as her character is gritty and unedited and in is isn't romanticised, which we like as it builds intimacy with the audience from the very beginning.

    Male Character:
We meet the man during the golden hour flashback and discover his name when the female protagonist calls him- Tom. It is unclear as to whether he is a romantic interest or not, but as he appears to be older and put together, it is likely that she seeks comfort in his stability.

    Ident Ideas

For our ident like the idea of having a timelapse film of a photo developing in a darkroom. We used this photo as inspiration:

The production company name would appear on the image that develops in the solution. We think this will be called Mirror Image Productions.

As a practice we made this short timelapse in the darkroom with a random image to see how it would look on camera. We plan to use an image that involves a reflection to link to the production company name.

    Fonts

    We used fonts from dafont.com.
